Last week, the newspaper The Jamaica Star wrote a cover story about Ms Thing & Psycho Tanbad’s voicing of my “Smoke Machine Riddim” (the track Vybz Kartel wrote “Yuh Love” on). Their new voicing is called “Bonify” and they have shot a somewhat scandalous video that you can check out over at Mixpak. Here’s an excerpt from the article:
With a raunchy video circulating on the Internet, dancehall artiste Ms Thing says she has no problem appearing nude in the raw version of her Bonify music video.
The sexually explicit video for the song, which is a collaboration with Psycho Tanbad, surfaced on the Internet recently. The video was done by Terminal 4 Media, while the song was produced by Dre Skull, from New York.
But there is also an edited version that has been on local TV for a few weeks. The raw version, Ms Thing says, is strictly for the Internet.
In the first scene, Psycho Tanbad lays on top of Ms Thing, with both of them appearing nude. At some points, Ms Thing’s breasts are exposed but both their lower bodies are slightly blurred. There is also a scene where they are in a shower together, hugging and rubbing down each other. Her breasts are also fully shown here. She is also nude while in the Jacuzzi.
Big up Stretch Armstrong for including “Dre Skull – I Want You (Dre Skull Remix)” in his recent Five Favorite Songs To Spin playlist for the February issue of Vanity Fair magazine. Make sure to check for Stretch’s weekly radio show Delancey Music Service with Eli Escobar on East Village Radio. Tune in for quality music from two heavy hitters every Monday!
Sensational is rapper that used to crash on my couch way back when. Whenever he was over, we would record tracks which he would burn on CDRs and sell in the streets. Once, one of those CDs made it into the hands of a Village Voice writer who reviewed it and I was both amazed and feeling great about working with an underground legend. Sensational came into the game in 1994 as a late addition to the Jungle Brothers and he has been grinding all these years. I just got an email from a friend this afternoon that he’s on the cover of The Wire. That’s got me feeling that everything is right with this world, just keep doing what you do and good things will come.
It’s CMJ in New York this week and I’m doing the Fader/Levi’s party. RSVP here.
UPATE: I forgot to mention, in addition to DJing some proper choooons on my own, I’ll be manning the decks during Pill’s set…aka I can personally assure the Fort will most definitely be goin ham. Get familiar…
“Hype” is a timeless burst of electronic energy music bookended by bursts of new age synth ecstasy. Not since the days of the KLF has a duo been able to combine stadium level rap dance with 3AM ambient house so convincingly.
Make sure to check for the remixes by Sinden, Udachi and Dre Skull.
Mixpak Records is proud to present the official video for the Vybz Kartel single “Yuh Love.” Shot on location in Jamaica, starring Vybz Kartel, and directed by Terminal 4 Media.
