Starting getting EXTREMELY HYPED, IMMEDIATELY because on October 6, 2009 Juiceboxxx and Dre Skull drop their brand new single and the last of their futuristic disco 12″ trilogy! “Hype” has been a long time coming and features remixes by Sinden and Dre Skull as well as an exclusive digital-only remix from Udachi. The cover art is classic Juice & Dre, all bloody cyborgs and outer space, which is a pretty good indication of the sound of this new monster track. Keep your eye balls peeled for track’s debut, who knows where it will pop up first…
Hope for the best, prepare for the worst. Rave ain’t dead.
“Yuh Love” has landed on the Grindin Charts which keeps things three for three with my recent releases (check the previous showings for “Gone Too Far” and “I Want You”). Full chart below.
Meanwhile, “Yuh Love” is also staying in the iTunes Top Reggae songs charts three weeks in and is #2 on the Turntable Lab Best Selling Charts. Across the pond, Sinden has been supporting “Yuh Love” on Kiss FM and Rob Da Bank is following suit on BBC Radio 1. Down in Jamaica, Kartel recently wrapped shooting the “Yuh Love” video which should be done in a few weeks (that’s a video still above).
Also, Bok Bok has just released a white label 12″ with his Dre Skull “I Want You (Bok Bok VIP Dub)” on the A side. That’s the dub of the recent remix he did for Mixpak. Bok Bok & L-Vis 1990 team up for “Wake Up Early” on the flip. Very solid release, grab the white here.
I’m in the studio this week trying to finish the long delayed collaborative EP with New Orleans Bounce MC Gotty Boi Chris. It’s been on the backburner for too long — I think I’ve had these tracks half done for over a year now — but this WILL be released this fall. Stay tuned.
The Bok Bok remix of “I Want You” has been picked for the number four spot on the June Grindin charts. Respect to L-Vis 1990 for grabbing the top spot with his massive “United Groove.” L-Vis has a big remix on a forthcoming release on Mixpak. Stay tuned.

If you’re familiar with The Drama King DJ Kay Slay then you’re probably up on the Streetsweepers mixtape series. The latest release in the series is “Reggae Picks 22″ hosted by Shifta and mixed by DJ Scope. If you check that tracklist, you’ll see that they included a run of Skull Riddim versions voiced by Sizzla (“Gone Too Far”), Shifta, Lyrical and Vybz Kartel.
My new synth pop single “I Want You” is out now on vinyl and digital. Remixes by AC Slater, Bobmo, Alex Gopher, Bok Bok and Dre Skull. Maximum respect to Shannon Swain for the vocals and Taadaki Mori for the cover art.
Consider buying the release from these fine stores:
Just a few tidbits from around the web. The Sizzla T-Shirts are selling out..just a heads up, in case, you end up needing one for the conceptual Youtube genre that is taking shape. See above. Also, in recent DJ mix news, Laidback Luke dropped the Buraka Som Sistema remix of “Gone Too Far” in his mix for KISS FM last Saturday night. Funny thing is I spent last Saturday in the studio working on a remix of a certain upcoming Laidback Luke and Diplo track…hey! Catchdubs and Ayres did a joint promo mix “Just Kickin It…” for their upcoming Australian tour and Catchdubs snuck the Buraka remix in as well. Quality mix through and through. Grab it here and check the full tracklist at Catchdubs’ fine blog.
Also, I’m heading to New Orleans tonight for a ten year anniversary party for Katey Red’s “Melpomene Block Party” (her first album) and the line up is massive. Gonna be SERIOUS business. Posts to follow.
77Klash came through the studio last month to record on the Skull Riddim and the subsequent single “Call Me” is up for download at The Fader. Check for it…
(photo via) The Fader has coverage of the recent Skull Riddim activity in Eddie Stats’ Ghetto Palms column – including a downloadable riddim blend of versions and dubs from Shifta, Crossovah, Lyrical, Natalie Storm and Vybz Kartel. Also, Stats’ turned in a great, live on two turntables mix for reggae blog Seen’s latest podcast. Be sure to grab that (and to check back every week).
Also, Skull Riddim has been showing up all over Youtube. Check a few of these blends.
I did an exclusive mix for Kissy Sell Out’s show on BBC Radio 1 that aired last night. You can listen to the mix on the streaming player that’s up for the next week. Check it for the debut rinse of a big remix of the next Dre Skull single “I Want You” that will be dropping in late May.
The Buraka Som Sistema remix of “Gone Too Far” has been picked for the number four spot on the Grindin April charts. Respect to all my Grindin bloggers and shouts to my man Oliver $ for taking the top spot. “Whatcha Gonna Do?” is BIG!

Last night 77Klash came through and voiced a proper new anthem. If you don’t know, Klash is a Brooklyn-based deejay and producer who’s staying way out ahead of the game.
